TBT: Avengers Headquarters…I mean, The Sainsbury Centre

I was so excited to see the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts in Avengers: Age of Ultron I think I squeed a little too loud for a theater (I’m sure someone wondered why the crazy lady was so excited about such a quiet part of the movie).

I spent about two weeks staying in the nearby Constable Terrace in 1996. I’m sad now that I never found time to actually go inside the gallery, but I did spend some time wandering around the grounds.

Norwich0006There aren’t actually any mountains in the background like there are in the movie, just more buildings on the University of East Anglia campus. I did like the idea of that view, though.

In reality if you look in the other direction, there is a lake and some nice trees nearby (and beyond the trees, my happy place!). It really is a pretty campus and I loved wandering around there during my stay.

Amazon reviews of life

I came across this tweet by Sam Sykes a few days ago:

Some of the responses were great:

“The driving part sucked.” ❤

For those of us still trying to figure it all out, there’s hope:

If he finds the link, I hope he lets us all know where it is:

One of my absolute favorites:

But I think this one is the best.

Wouldn’t we all love to be able to leave that review?

I’d love to hear your answers to the question.

So, what would be your Amazon review of life?

Throwback Thursday: From dress to (Christmas tree) skirt

Tree Skirt Collage 2 text smallI originally posted this on my old blog in 2008. I’m happy to say I’m still using this tree skirt.

I sent a couple tweets about this awhile ago, but didn’t get around to posting the pictures until now (Sorry!)

I couldn’t find my usual Christmas tree skirt this year, and it was one I’ve been wanting to replace anyway (so I didn’t look too hard), so I decided to make a new one.treeskirt1Lil Girl had this dress which she wore for Christmas a couple years ago, and I hated to get rid of it because it’s such a pretty dress. The thing I really liked about it was the way the tulle underskirt peeked out from under the overskirt.

treeskirt2I decided one way to keep it out in the open & enjoy it would be to turn it into the tree skirt. I removed the bodice and hemmed the waist back up.

treeskirt3Then I slid it under the tree.

Note: I initially left the seam at the back intact, but after a couple of years of having to do some magic tricks to get the skirt on because I didn’t think of it when I was first setting up the tree, I opened the seam & hemmed the edges. Now it just slides around the base like any other tree skirt.
